Railway Safety

Technical Safety BC works with industry to mitigate safety risks. The following are some of the resources we have available:

Railway Safety Handbook - Developed by Technical Safety BC, the purpose of this handbook is to make managers and employees of railways operating in the province of British Columbia aware of the consequences of unsafe acts and conditions that can affect the safety of railway employees, the public and the environment. Please make this handbook available to all railway employees so they may understand and follow the safety principles and recommended best practices for safe railway operations.

Railway Safety Statistics - Safety statistics for 2018 are available in the Railway section of our State of Safety publication.

Technical Safety BC held three Town Hall meetings for railway clients in September 2016. Representatives from Common Carrier, Industrial, Siding and Spur, and Heritage railways were in attendance.
