Electrical Regulations
The Safety Standards Act applies to everyone who installs, alters, maintains or operates electrical equipment. All licensed contractors are required to keep up to date with changes in the Act and Regulations.

Safety orders are instruments that are issued to prevent or reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to property. Compliance is mandatory and enforceable by Technical Safety BC.
Directives are instruments that clarify or provide new interpretation of a regulation or code. Compliance is mandatory.
Information bulletins provide helpful information and clarification on existing regulations or code that affect your particular technology.
Codes
All licensed contractors and Field Safety Representatives (FSRs) are required to keep up-to-date with changes in the Act and regulations. Contractors and FSRs must have access to a current edition of the C22.1 Canadian Electrical Code and BC amendments. Check that your employer has a copy or purchase at retail/wholesale outlets or through the the CSA Group store.
Changes to the regulations and code change seminars
Changes to the BC Electrical Code regulation occur approximately every three years. Courses, seminars and information sessions help you understand interpretations and application of these changes.
