A permit is a form of permission that allows a person to perform regulated work, or operate regulated equipment as authorized by the applicable regulations in their field of expertise. A permit is normally associated with a specific person and site.
There are two types of electrical permit: installation and operating. Each section provides steps to obtain your permit.
If you do not obtain a permit when required by law to do so, you may face consequences that range from a warning to a monetary penalty or prosecution.
Municipalities not covered by Technical Safety BC for electrical permits
Please note, there are some exceptions where Technical Safety BC does not issue electrical installation permits or complete inspections. Please see jurisdiction information for details.
