Annual Submission of Railway Operating Statistics Form

Please submit the following information no later than March 1 of each calendar year.

Every railway is required to file with Technical Safety BC a copy of its current Safety Management System, as per section 37(d) of the adopted Railway Safety Management System Regulations.Please submit the SMS document to railway@technicalsafetybc.ca.
Safety Critical Positions as defined in Railway Rules Governing Safety Critical Positions. This includes relief workers and any other persons who are trained or work in a temporary capacity.
Note: A public crossing is defined by Transport Canada as “railway tracks [that] intersect with a road that is owned, open and maintained by a public authority like a province, municipality or band council, and is used by the public”.
Note: A private crossing is defined by Transport Canada as “railway tracks [that] intersect with a privately owned road that's owned and used by private parties, like farmers, commercial businesses or private individuals”.
