Licensing & Certification

Overview

We issue licences to contractors and contracting companies who install, operate, and maintain regulated equipment, and we issue certificates of qualification to individuals working on regulated equipment. Together, these two items provide the public with assurances that certain standards of knowledge and proficiency are being maintained around regulated work.

Key Statistics

2018 Activity

The number of licences issued in 2018 dropped slightly compared to 2017, while the number of certificates of qualifications rose. The latter reflects introduction of the new Electrical Field Safety Representative Renewal Program and Elevating Device Mechanics who must renew their certification every three years.
